Terms to know before faucet shopping:

There are some basic terms that you should be familiar with before you embark on the faucet shopping journey.  Knowing these terms will help you navigate easily through this kitchen faucet guide as well as the process of buying one.

Spout

In the simplest of terms, the spout is the main part that delivers the water to the sink. Spouts can come in many shapes and sizes, such as gooseneck and straight spouts.

Aerator

Located at the faucet’s tip, the aerator is the part that will make the flowing water break up into different streams. It is usually made of mesh. Aerator is the part of the kitchen faucet that streamlines the flow of the water so as to prevent splashing. It also reduces water wastage by reducing the volume of the flowing water.

Valve

Valve is the component of the faucet that controls the temperature of the water as well as its flow. Compression valves, desk valves, cartridge and ball valves are some of the most common types of valves used in kitchen faucets.

Things to consider before buying a Kitchen Faucet

The following is a list of the things you must consider before you buy a kitchen faucet. If you do not consider these elements, chances are that you will end up buying a faucet that will, in the end , prove to be useless for your kitchen and the type of sink installed in it.

Mounting Holes

More often than not, sinks already contain pre drilled holes where faucets are mounted. Thus it is important that you buy a faucet whose number of holes matches the ones in your sink. If you fail to consider this point, you can end up with a faucet that is perfect in every aspect, yet is still useless for your kitchen sink. Drilling extra mounting holes into your sink or countertop for fitting a faucet is not a good idea. Similarly, if the faucet you buy requires less mounting holes than the ones available in your countertop or sink, you will need to buy an additional base plate. While buying a base plate is not that bad an option, it still makes the process of fitting the faucet lengthier and more expensive than it initially had to be. Thus to save yourself all the additional trouble, it is important that you figure out the number of holes in your sink and then opt for a faucet whose holes match that number.

Ease of Installation and repair

Buy a faucet that is easy to install. If you’re replacing just the faucet in your kitchen and not the sink, the process of installation can turn out to be complicated. That is why you should opt for a faucet that is easy to install and saves you both time and money. Faucets that can be fixed with screw drivers make the process of installation easy. Since faucets are a long term investment, it is also significant to check their durability and also the process of its repair in case of a leakage or any other problem if it may arise.

Style and Shape of the Spout

The spout of the faucet you choose must be proportional to the size of your kitchen sink, so as to make your sink or countertop look reasonable. A spout with a straight face will usually require a bigger pot under it and the goose neck style spout will need a sink that is not too shallow in order to function at its best. Thus while buying a kitchen faucet, keep in mind the size of your sink or countertop and choose the style and shape of spout that will compliment the size of your sink.

Kitchen faucet Mounting

There are two ways that kitchen faucets are usually mounted, on the wall or on the deck.

Wall mounting

In this style of mounting, the kitchen faucet is installed directly on the wall. This is the mounting style that needs to be used in kitchens that are a little low on space.

Deck mounting

In the deck mounting style, the kitchen faucet is attached to either the deck or the sink itself. Deck mounting is the mounting style used most commonly in kitchens.

Types of faucets

Before you head out to buy one, it is vital that you’re familiar with the different types and makes of the faucets available.

Single Handle Faucets

Single handle faucets are the most common kitchen faucets. As evident by its name, this faucet contains a single handle and requires only one hole for installation. One thing to keep in mind while buying such a faucet is the distance between the faucet and the window ledge or the backsplash, since when you will rotate the handle to turn it on it may hit whatever is placed behind it. Although the single handle faucets are common, they do not have to be boring. Several designs in the single handle type are available in the market, ranging from traditional to modern. These faucets have a handle for setting the flow as well as the temperature of the water. To adjust the water pressure according to your needs, install your preferred kind of aerator in the faucet. Also, if your kitchen sink contains more than one hole you can install other accessories like a soap dispenser or a spray nozzle.

Pros
  • Easily available
  • Simple installation
  • Requires only one hole for installation
Cons
  • Basic features

Double handle faucets

Double handle faucets are also called ‘center set’ faucets. This type of kitchen faucet contains two different handles, used for regulating the temperature of the water. One handle is specified for cold water while the other is for hot water. It is called the center set faucet due to the fact that it has one metal plate that connects the spout and the lines and is placed in the center of the sink. Double handle faucets usually come with separate sprayers. Since it has separate hot and cold handles, the risk of accidents is lowered.

Pros
  • Separate handles for hot and cold
  • Easily available
  • Less chance of accidents
Cons
  • Requires multiple installation holes

Hands free faucets

Also called the ‘touchless faucets’, this is a type that contains movement sensors. This means that you do not have to touch the fixture to get the water flowing. All you have to do is place your hands or whatever you need to wash under it and the water starts flowing. Got your hands all dirt while cooking? Or are your hands full of things you need to wash? Well, with this kind of faucet you do not need to turn it on manually, which means not just ease of use but also cleanliness since you won’t be getting the faucet handle dirty time and again. The touchless faucets are also a more environment friendly option in comparison to the other kinds. The water flow stops as soon as the sensory detectors detect the absence of movement under it.

Pros
  • The hands-free faucet is very easy to use.
  • Faucet stays clean.
Cons
  • In some touchless faucets, the movement activator is hidden in the back or bottom of the faucet, finding the activator can prove to be a hassle if you’re in a hurry.

Pull out faucets

Pull out faucets come with a detachable spray head that you can pull out and use. It also contains a hose which gives you the ease of movement. It is the ideal type of faucet for washing vegetables and dishes. Pull out faucets are considered as one of the greatest advancements in the kitchen faucet industry, all because of the ease they provide while working in the kitchen.

Pros
  • Flexible to use
  • Perfect for hollow sinks
Cons
  • Can cause splashing around the sink

Pull down faucets

Pull down faucets are faucets whose spray head is detachable. You can pull down the faucet and its spray heads will move in a downward direction as an extension of the faucet. The pull down faucets are similar in function to the pull out ones but are less flexible. They ensure tidiness as usually the pull down faucets tend to stretch only till the rim of the sink, which means less splashing. Pull down faucets that are of good quality tend to attach back to the spout automatically after use, making it a nice and compact option. One thing that should be kept in mind while buying such a faucet is that the pull out faucet will work best when installed over a medium or large sized sink.

Pros
  • Can access all nooks and corners while washing
Cons
  • It’s not suitable for small sink spaces

Bar Faucets

Bar faucets are what you should choose if your kitchen contains a smaller secondary sink in addition to the main sink. Some kitchens have a smaller secondary sink to free up space on the main one. These sinks are usually used for washing produce or making meal prep easier. Bar faucets are smaller faucets, made mainly for these secondary sinks. These bar faucets are available in styles that match the faucet installed on your main sink. You can connect this bar faucet to either hot or cold filtered water according to your requirements.

Pros
  • Perfect for secondary sinks
Cons
  • Takes up additional space

Pot filler

Pot filler faucets are specifically designed to fill deep sinks or pots with water. This kind of faucet contains a very long yet thin spout. Water flows out of this faucet with high pressure. Initially, pot fillers were utilized mainly in restaurant kitchens and commercial sinks, however different variations of the pot fillers are now available for home use as well. Pot fillers can be mounted on the deck or the wall and are usually moveable. You can move the body outwards to fill a pot with water and then move it back to its place. This type of faucet will save you the time and energy used in transporting heavily filled water pots across the kitchen. If you’re a serious cooking enthusiast, this is a faucet that could benefit you greatly.

Pros
  • Perfect for busy kitchens.
Cons
  • Needs connection to a water supply behind the stove

Wall mounted faucet

As obvious from the name, these faucets are mounted on the wall of your kitchen instead of the sink. This is a design suitable for small kitchens as it gives you more counter space. Other than being great space savers, these faucets are available in a wide variety of colors and style which means you can easily find one that complements the whole look of your kitchen. However, there is one thing you must focus on while installing a wall mounted faucet and that is the distance between the faucet and the sink. If the faucet is installed too high up the wall, the water will splash everywhere while it is being used. If you install it too low, it will create a hindrance in carrying out the washing.

Pros
  • Space saver
Cons
  • Remodelling of wall needed for installation

Points to keep in mind before buying a kitchen faucet

Mentioned below are some important points that you should keep in mind while you make the final decision regarding the purchase of a faucet for your kitchen. Ask yourself :

  • Is it durable?
  • Is it easy to install?
  • Does it come with a warranty?
  • Is it affordable?

Finishing of the kitchen faucet

A mistake most buyers often make is that they do not consider the finishing of the kitchen faucet while buying one. The finishing of your kitchen faucet will play a big role in determining the final outlook of your entire kitchen.

Listed below are Some of the best options for kitchen faucet finishing.

Chrome finishing

If you want a shiny kitchen faucet, then chrome finishing is what you should opt for. Shiny chrome kitchen faucets are the most commonly used kind found in most kitchens. It is long lasting and also comparatively easier to clean. Kitchen faucets with a chrome finishing tend to stand out and are the right pick for you if you want to make a statement. The only downside of choosing a faucet with chrome finishing is that it gets dirty easily, as spots of water and fingerprints will be more visible on the shiny chrome surface. However, the fact that chrome is easy to clean balances out the con.

Copper finishing

Copper finished faucets make a bold statement and are the perfect fit for your kitchen if your kitchen has countertops made of marble. An additional benefit of choosing this kind is the antibacterial properties of copper. Scratches that might appear on a kitchen faucet with copper finishing have the tendency to fade away on their own over time. The con with such a faucet is the fact that it might require a bit more maintenance than the other types of finishing.

White finish

If you want to go for an all-white theme of your kitchen, kitchen faucets with white finish are the right pick for you. The best part about this type is that water spots and handprints will not be visible on its surface, thus you will not have to worry about cleaning it time and again. Its white porcelain surface will give it an elegant and regal look. But you’ll have to be a bit more careful while using this faucet. After all, porcelain possesses the tendency to get chipped off easily.

Polished nickel finish

Kitchen faucets with a polished nickel surface are durable and also very easy to clean. Faucets with this finishing appear smooth and very bright and will go well with the look of your kitchen, no matter what style it is. Perhaps the only thing stopping us from recommending this kind is its price. Faucets with the polished nickel finishing tend to be on the more expensive side and thus are not as popular as they could be.

Satin bronze

A less expensive alternative to copper, faucets with satin bronze finishing have a unique look. Moreover, they are also known to be durable, and cleaning them is no hassle. A subtle color and easy maintenance are two features of the satin bronze finishing that we love. Although if you plan on buying other accessories such as a sprayer or a soap dispenser for your kitchen sink space, then not opting for this kind would be the safer option. That is because it can often get hard to find accessories that match the unique look of a satin bronze kitchen faucet.

Polished brass

If you’re someone who is inspired by the Victorian era style and would like to give your kitchen a look that rests more on the traditional side, this is the type for you to pick. The polished brass finishing of kitchen faucets made a comeback in the year 2018 and its popularity has only gone up since then. The pros of this kind of finishing are its easy maintenance and durability. It is also easier to find matching accessories for this type. The only con of buying the polished brass faucet is that it is a little heavier on the pocket. If you can tolerate a little hit to your wallet and are fond of the traditional style look, the polished brass faucet is not a bad option to consider.

APPASO Pull Down Commercial High Arc Single Hole Pull Out Kitchen Sink Faucet

The ultimate buyer’s dilemma is that: People want high-end, stylish looking gadgets but they don’t want to pay high-end prices.

It is quite understandable if you think about it. As a matter of fact, companies know this and they make products that are affordable and attempt to be useful. I say attempt because more often than not cheap products also perform poorly. So, mostly you end up with a less than a stellar product that you regret.

But this doesn’t always mean that you are not going to get what you want. There are options in the market that offer high-end features in a sleek package all while maintaining the affordable nature. And some of them even manage to function for years to come.

The APPASO Pull Down Kitchen Faucet is one of these options. It doesn’t cost a whole lot and yet delivers on almost everything that a good faucet should.

So, let’s jump in and see how good the Appaso really is.

Manufacturing

Right off the bat, the Appaso Pull Down Faucet impresses with its build quality. The materials used in the making of this faucet are top-notch. The stainless steel build with a nickel coating provides peace of mind that the faucet will last for quite some time.

Complementing the build quality is the feature set of the Appaso Pull Down Faucet. First up, the sprayer head is retractable. Meaning you can pull on it to extend it. But those of you who have some past experience with retractable sprayer heads will come to confirm that those spouts droop overtime. It is not only unsightly, but it just renders the whole point of having a spout that extends the kind of moot.

To remedy this situation, the Appaso Pull Down Faucet features a magnetic docking system. As a result, you don’t have to suffer from a spout that dangles like a fruit-bearing branch.

Other important features include buttons on the sprayer head to toggle between different water flow modes. You can choose either between the shower, spray, or a pretty handy Blade mode. The Blade mode projects a wide blade-like spray of water. It can be used to wash away messes like leftover food.

Finally, the whole package is pretty durable with Appaso claiming it has undergone strict lab testing to make it suitable for your kitchen. And if that wasn’t enough they are offering a 90-days money-back guarantee.

Style

According to Appaso, their faucet has been designed by designers who take their work pretty seriously. And hey, looking at the thing up close, it is clear that somebody has given it some thought. It looks elegant, sleek, and will certainly look like it belongs should you choose to install it into your kitchen.

And like I have mentioned before, the spout is magnetic which means that you don’t have to worry about it stooping and ruining the whole look of its kitchen.

Durability

Appaso makes pretty big durability claims when it comes to their faucet. According to them, they have not only made use of durable materials, but they also have coated the whole faucet 5 times. The Nickel coating ensures that there is no rusting.

In addition to this, the coating also protects against any spots, fingerprints, and smudges. They even give some numbers. Quoting Appaso, their nickel quoting is more than 10um whereas the typical layer depth is only about 5um.

Moreover, to take the point home Appaso also provides a 90-day money-back guarantee. So, if you don’t like it, just return it within 90 days.

Ease of Installation

Let’s make this clear:

If you are an amateur or someone who has never installed a faucet before, your best bet is to call a plumber to correctly install one.

With that out of the way, I know there can be several reasons why you won’t be able to call a plumber. For people like that, there is good news:

It is quite easy to install.

Appaso even goes as far as to say that you can install it in 20 minutes.

Kudos to Appaso for this.

Ease of Use

Super easy to use!

Let me explain. To open the valve you just push or pull the lever depending upon the water you want. Want hot water? Pull towards yourself. For cold water, push it away.

Similarly, when you want to toggle between different water modes, push a button present on top of the sprayer head or in this case two buttons. You see, unlike most sprayers, the Appaso has three flow modes:

  • Spray mode for filling up buckets
  • Shower mode for cleaning
  • Blade mode for cleaning when things are a bit stickier

So, choose between your preferred mode on the push of a button. Oh, and did I mention that the spout is retractable and docks magnetically.

Pros

  • Looks clean and stylish
  • Plenty durable thanks to Nickel coated stainless steel
  • Special nano-coating to protect against stains and smudges
  • The ability to select between 3 different water flows
  • Quite easy to install
  • 90 days money-back guarantee
  • Doesn’t cost an arm and a leg

Cons

  • The supply lines that come in the box aren’t very long. So, you may need to buy separate ones as short supply lines won’t quite fit under your sink
  • The pull-down spout is also relatively short. A short pull-down spout is not really as useful as a lengthy one. If you want a lengthy spout, consider something like the Kraus Bolden

Final Verdict

Long story short, the Appaso Pull Down Faucet is a bargain when you consider the things it offers. From beautiful design to easy installation, nothing suggests that it costs way less than something comparable from Moen or Delta. And that’s not all.

The looks of Appaso aren’t the only things that defy its price tag, it’s feature set does that too. Pull down the magnetic dock? Check! Different water flow modes? Check! Easily cleanable sprayer head? Also check!

Let’s end it here. If you were looking for an excellent, affordable faucet, this is it! Go ahead and buy it!

Kraus KPF-1610SS

Furnishing your kitchen with all the right equipment is a hassle. Too many variables, too many choices, and, certainly, too many unknowns. So, in this situation how can you choose a good faucet?

When it comes to choosing a good faucet, there are a few things that should always be kept in mind. First up, the faucet should be well-made. Secondly, it should have a quality fit and finish. Thirdly, it should perform really well. But most importantly, it shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg.

For anyone looking for a good faucet that doesn’t cost a lot, the Kraus KPF-1610SS Bolden seems to be a practical solution. On paper, it has everything a good faucet should have including a lifetime warranty. But is it any good? Let’s find out.

Manufacturing

First up, the Kraus Bolden is made from Brass with a stainless steel finish. The height of the whole unit is 18-inches so it can fit under most kitchen cabinets. This is great because finding out the faucet won’t fit after you have spent the cash is not a pleasant feeling.

Secondly, if you look at the design of the faucet, it looks more like a commercial product than something produced for households. But that is also Bolden’s biggest strength. The design is durable and also flexible as the length of the faucet can be increased to 20’’ by simply pulling on the sprayer head because of its retractable nature.

In addition to these features, you can also choose between 2 operating modes. With the push of a button, you can either choose from an aerated stream or a spray of water. Having this flexibility allows you to efficiently complete your work.

One of the nicest things about this faucet is that it comes with a ceramic cartridge, which Kraus claims to provide lifetime dribble free use. While I can’t vouch for its lifetime claim, from the looks of it, it should hold pretty well.

Finally, the Kraus Bolden comes with a lifetime warranty. So, you can rest assured that this faucet will go the distance.

Style

You can think of Kraus Bolton as a faucet suitable for both a professional kitchen and a home kitchen. It employs an open coil design which enables the sprayer head to be retractable. The retractable design is a big plus since it makes doing chores way easier.

While the open coil design is forward-thinking, it may not be everyone’s cup of tea. The reason being that it looks almost nothing like other home-kitchen faucets out there. And the fact that the sprayer head lances forward when pulled, doesn’t help the design either. It just looks truly unique.

Best of all, even with all of the bells and whistles, the Kraus Bolden is compact enough to fit under any kitchen cabinet. It is 18-inches high to be exact.

To sum it all up, the design is clean and functional albeit a little out of the ordinary. However, it serves a purpose and therefore shouldn’t be a deal-breaker.

Durability

The Kraus Bolden is all Brass with a ceramic cartridge. From the fit and finish to the actual quality of materials, everything about this faucet is top-notch. Its design may look and, I must say, polarizing but there is no question about the quality.

Ease of Installation

The Bolden is quite easy to install. The faucet comes pre-packaged with all 21 waterlines and the mounting hardware required of the installation. The ceramic cartridge is held into place by 2 standard Philip head screws.

All in all, the installation of this faucet is a breeze.

Ease of Use

Using the Bolden is no rocket science. Once correctly installed you can simply open the faucet and use it. However, there are also a few cool tricks to keep in mind.

First up, there is a button on the side of the sprayer head that lets you choose between the 2 water modes. Do you want the water to come out in a splash-free, aerated stream or do you want the flow to be more like a pre-rinse shower? You can toggle between either of these modes with the push of a button.

Pros

  • A modern design fit for both a professional as well as a home kitchen
  • It is pretty durable and can withstand the abuse
  • The cartridge is ceramic and is pretty easy to install needing only 2 screws to secure it
  • The retractable nature of the faucet is a big plus since allows for an additional 20’’ reach enabling you to direct water anywhere in the sink
  • It comes pre-packaged with 21 water channels and all the required mounting hardware
  • You can change the water mode to either spray or shower with the push of a button
  • Well-fitted and pretty compact as it is only 18’’ high
  • Reasonable price and lifetime warranty

Cons

  • The design is a bit polarizing. Some people may not like it as much
  • Would have loved to see a metal sprayer head instead of the plastic one currently in use
  • It is not truly retractable. After you have used the sprayer head you have to push it back into place

These are pretty much the only things I would love to see Kraus improve in the next iteration.

Final Verdict

The Kraus Bolden is for people who don’t want to spend a lot on a fancy faucet and yet want something that looks and performs like the 21st century. It has a solid that is as far away from generic as it gets. The design also complements the feature set on offer here.

Finally, features like the retractable nature of the sprayer head and the ability to change the water flow with the push of a button are exactly the things that help Bolden stand out in a sea of similarly-priced counterparts.

All in all, it is a great product that happens to be reasonably priced. It gets a ‘Go’ from my side!

Moen 7185SRS

If you are even the least bit familiar with the faucets, chances are you have heard or even purchased from Moen. Moen has an excellent product portfolio. Their faucets and showers are regarded by many as the best in the industry.

But, the question here is:

Is Moen for you?

Moen is for everyone who can afford to put a considerably expensive faucet in their kitchen. The product under discussion today, the Moen 7185SRS Brantford, is one such faucet. It is not for everyone as it is quite expensive but nonetheless it is a quality piece of equipment and we are going to see why.

Manufacturing

Moen Brantford is a metal faucet. From the lever to the sprayer head everything is made of metal. The stainless steel finish makes the faucet look sleek and modern. Moreover, the finish makes the faucet resistant to water spots and fingerprints. As a result not only will this faucet look good upon installing, it will continue to look good long after that.

In addition to the sleek finish, the faucet features a pull-down operation. You pull the lever to activate the flow. It’s as simple as that. If you can shell a little more cash you can order the Brantford with MotionSense technology for hands-free operation.

Among other notable features is the ability of the sprayer head to extend. Moen calls this feature Reflex. If you pull on the sprayer head it extends enabling you to direct the water flow to the farthest corners of your sink. Plus, it is truly retractable. So, when you are done free the sprayer head and it will dock automatically.

Finally, the faucet features two water-flows and a button to boost the water pressure. There are two buttons on the side. The bigger one lets you adjust the water flow and the smaller on allows you to toggle Power Boost on and off.

And while we are on it, Moen offers a limited lifetime warranty on the Brantford.

In short, the Moen Brantford is jam-packed with useful features and manages to look sleek while doing so.

Style

The Moen Brantford is rather conventional-looking. That does not mean that it looks bad. Far from it. Instead, the faucet looks modern and will fit any home kitchen setup.

Part of this modern look is due to the excellent finish. The stainless steel finish of the Brantford gives it an aura of sophistication. And also serves a purpose as well. The finish keeps the faucet from getting fingerprints, smudges, and water stains all over it. Consequently, you don’t have to wipe it down over and over again.

Similarly, when it comes to operating the Brantford can be configured in more than one ways. You can either get a lever-only version or you can get it with Moen’s MotionSense technology. The MotionSense technology works by using sensors to allow you to use the faucet without touching it.

Couple all of the above-mentioned features with ease of installation and you get a product that only looks good but also works just as well. A complete package, if you may!

Durability

No matter how beautiful a faucet is if it can’t withstand years of use it is not worth it. Fortunately, for the most part, Brantford is pretty durable. It is made of metal, the retractable mechanism works and holds up well, the lever is plenty sturdy, and it has an excellent fit.

Now, if you read the above paragraph again, you will find the phrase “for the most part” and that is quite unfortunate. Moen’s faucets are prone to cartridge leaks and this one is no different. I am not saying it will happen to your faucet but there are reports of people claiming the cartridge leaked a year or 2 after installation. So, make sure you do proper research.

Aside from this minor flaw, everything else is pure quality.

Ease of Installation

Anyone who has installed a faucet before can install the Brantford without any hiccups. The faucet comes with everything you need to install it. That includes Moen’s proprietary Duralock system for quickly installing the faucet in place.

Oh and you can install it either through 1 or 3 holes.

Ease of Use

The faucet is quite easy to use. Just pull the lever, push a button to select the flow mode, and you are done.

Similarly, the retractable mechanism is also quite well done. You just have to pull the sprayer head and it extends. And when you are done using, simply free the sprayer head and it will return to its place.

As a side note:

You may have to adjust the counterweight for this retractable mechanism to work properly.

All in all, the Moen Brantford is very easy to set up and use.

Pros

  • It is durable, sleek, and can resist fingerprints and water spots
  • The faucet is quite easy to set up and use
  • There are 2 water modes to choose from and you can even increase the pressure by pushing a button to enable the so-called ‘Power Boost’ mode
  • The faucet is available in a variety of finished and operation modes. You can either choose from a manual lever-based one or one with MotionSense that offers hands-free operation

Cons

  • The cartridges on some Moen faucets are prone to leaking especially in areas where the water is hard i.e. contains dirt or sediments
  • It is quite expensive

Final Verdict

If you have the cash to put a Moen in your kitchen, I think you should do it. You won’t be disappointed as the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. Features like a truly retractable sprayer head, a Power Boost mode to increase the pressure, and the ability to choose between two water-flows are exactly the things that make the Moen Brantford a worthy candidate for your money. Just be sure to have a professional plumber install the cartridge for you and you’ll be good to go.

Delta Faucet 9178T-AR-DST

Delta Faucet is among the most well-recognized kitchen product manufacturers out there. They have an extensive range of innovative faucets at almost every price range. However, their most interesting offerings are their high-end options. The Delta Faucet Leland is one of these offerings.

The Leland comes packed with all the bells and whistles that you expect from a high-end faucet and even some you don’t. Although the feature set is extensive how it performs is another question altogether.

But seeing as to what it contains, it looks to be a pretty good choice for someone who can spend a considerable amount of money on a faucet. If you are that someone, read on to find out how good it is.

Manufacturing

The Delta Faucet Leland, or more aptly the Leland, is made from metal. The only non-metal components are the rubber spray holes and the plastic screws that hold the faucet in place. Consequently, the faucet, as a whole, feels quite substantial and well made. Upon inspecting it closely, it looks as though it will last for years to come.

Coming on to the features and we see that the Leland packs a lot. First up, the sprayer head is removable. So, you can pull on it to extend its range. And as you can probably imagine it comes in handy. In addition to being detachable, the sprayer head is magnetic. This means as soon as you free it, it falls into place all on its own.

Secondly, you can adjust the form of the water flow. You can either set it to a spray or a shower configuration. All of it can be done through a handy toggle present at the side of the sprayer head.

Thirdly, you can choose between two ways to operate the faucet provided that you go for the Touch-enabled model. Once you get a touch-enabled model you can either turn the faucet On by pulling the lever or you can touch anywhere on the sprayer head with your wrist or your forearm. If you think about it, this touch-enabled feature is a stroke of genius as there are times when your hands are too messy to pull the lever.

And as you can tell the Leland needs batteries for its Touch operation to work. However, according to Delta Faucets, 6 AA batteries will last up to 6 years. So, yeah you have to worry about the batteries running out after a while.

Finally, there is also a row of LEDs at the base of the faucet which indicates the temp of the water. Blue, when the temperature is 88F, Pink when it is 95F, and Red when it is 110F.

Moreover, there is a 5-years limited warranty if any this breaks up.

Style

Leland looks absolutely stunning in person. The stainless steel finish is masterfully done. It gives the faucet a professional look even though it is designed for a home kitchen. This is, in my opinion, a pretty good thing.

Similarly, the presence of LEDs at the base of the faucet makes the whole setup look futuristic and modern. it is these little touches that make a product stand out from the crowd.

Suffice to say, the design and style of the hardware present are very appealing.

Durability

Let me say this quickly:

If you install the Leland correctly, it won’t break.

Why am I so confident? Well, every component of the faucet is well made. From the sprayer head to the mounting hardware, everything is well put together. Moreover, Delta Faucet has taken a few steps to ensure that once you install it, there are no leaks. Delta Faucet has termed all of these steps the Diamond Technology. Delta Faucet claims their technology guarantees no leaks and it does that by making sure the seals experience minimal amounts of wear.

In short, the Leland is quite durable.

Ease of Installation

The Leland can be installed on both a 1-hole and 3-hole sinks. To install it on a 3-hole sink you would need a deck plate which Delta Faucet packs in the box. Moreover, the actual installation is hassle-free thanks to the Duramount mounting system.

As a whole, the installation of the Leland is quite straight forward.

Ease of Use

If you have chosen the touch-enabled model the Leland is, quite frankly, one of the easiest to use. You can either open the valve by pulling the lever or you can simply touch anywhere on the sprout to activate it.

Pros

  • The faucet is both stylish and durable
  • A single button to toggle between shower and spray mode
  • The touch-enabled model comes in handy when it comes to operating the faucet
  • Temperature LEDs at the base of the faucet are a nice addition as they tell the water temperature
  • The magnet-based retractable nature of the sprayer head makes using it a lot efficient
  • The ability to mount the faucet on either a 1-hole or a 3-hole sink

Cons

  • A 5-year warranty is a bit on the low side
  • It is quite expensive
  • The instruction manual that comes in the box is confusing

Final Verdict

The Delta Faucet Leland is an amazing product. There is no doubt about that. It offers features that actually provide value to the consumer. Features like temperature indicating LEDs, magnetic retractable sprayer head, Diamond Technology for leak protection, optional touch-based operation, and easy mounting hardware are the things that make Delta Faucet Leland worth your money.

But, as with everything, there are a few things that should be improved. For people who would like to install the faucet themselves the instruction manual that comes in the box should be improved. At the time of writing it is confusing and makes matters overly complicated. And it is quite expensive.

On the other hand, if you can afford it, there are few faucets on the market that can match it.

Moen 7594ESRS Arbor Motionsense

Deciding what and what not to buy when planning your kitchen is a chore unlike any other. In between buying appliances and choosing the dinner set, the sink gets little attention compared to other things. Consequently, many people end up buying what the first thing they end up with.

So for people who are in a hurry don’t have much time to research, I always say:

Buy a Moen!

The Moen Arbor Motionsense is one such faucet. Although expensive it is easy to recommend. unlike cheap faucets, it looks sleek and performs well too. And, like everything else, it also has a few shortcomings.

Manufacturing

Just like almost all Moen faucets, the Arbor is also made of metal. Everything is well put together and as such the manufacturing needs nothing to be desired. Aside from this sturdiness, the faucet also looks sleek.

Much of the Arbor’s sleek looks are all thanks to the stainless steel finish. This finish isn’t only for looks either. It serves another purpose. It helps the faucet remain spotless. No water spots, no fingerprints. In short, the finish keeps the faucet clean and crisp.

The other important thing to note about the Arbor is its MotionSense technology. There are 3 models of the Arbor on the market. The one we are talking about is the 2-sensor model. The main draw of this model is that it has 2 sensors that allow the faucet to be operated without touching it. So, gone are the troublesome times when you had to open the valve with your hands all messed up.

You can also toggle between two different operating modes, a shower mode and a spray one. All you have to do is push a single button to enable or disable the mode you desire.

And finally, rounding up the specifications of the Moen Arbor are features like the retractable nature of the sprayer head and the Power Clean spray technology.

First up, the retractable sprayer head and it is pretty self-explanatory. You pull on the spout and it extends. This extension of the spout makes cleaning efficient, since you can direct the water flow wherever you want in the sink. And once you are done, simply leave the spout and it will fall back into place.

Secondly, the Power Clean spray technology provides a boost in water pressure. This added boost helps in cleaning stains quickly and filling up water pots.

Long story short, the specs of the Arbor are top-notch.

Style

The Moen Arbor MotionSense looks amazing in person. It employs a winning combination of sleek design and sturdy hardware. As a result, it will look good in any environment, be it a professional kitchen or a home kitchen.

Durability

Let’s not beat around the bush and cut to the chase:

The Arbor is a tank.

Of course, I don’t mean literally. Figuratively! Every component is thoughtfully designed, expertly made, and deliberately engineered to make the Arbor last as long as possible. In fact, Moen has so much confidence in their product that they are offering a limited lifetime warranty.

This doesn’t mean that there are no problems. Alas, there are some things that sour the whole experience. Once you fit the faucet, it isn’t going anywhere. However, the real troubles start a few ways down the road. Many people have noted that their Arbor started leaking after about 6 months. The problem isn’t widespread but it is there nonetheless.

But there is a quick fix. Open the handle and applying silicone grease solves the problem temporarily. If it doesn’t help then call a plumber or you may need to replace the part altogether.

Ease of Installation

The installation of the Moen Arbor is quite easy. The faucet comes with everything you need to install it inside the box including the escutcheon. You can install the faucet on either a 1 or 3 hole sink. Whatever, you choose to do, it will not be much of a problem.

But, I need to say this here, if you can afford it then get a professional plumber to do the job. A professional plumber won’t damage the faucet and will fit everything as it should be.

Ease of Use

This is where the Arbor makes its strongest case. Sure, its design is gorgeous and its spout can extend but the thing that gives this faucet an aura of uniqueness is the faucet’s ability to be controlled without touching the lever or even the faucet for that matter.

The two sensors are located on the base and the top of the spout. So, you can open the valve with a simple gesture of your hand.

And to top it all off, you can also toggle between spray and shower mode with the push of a single button. Spray for filling up a container, shower for removing leftovers. The Arbor gets full points for the different features it provides for easing up the life of the consumers.

Pros

  • The design is pretty sleek
  • The stainless steel finish not only looks but also provides resistance against water spots and fingerprints
  • MotionSense technology provides the opportunity to use the faucet without touching it
  • Retractable nature of the spout is a big plus
  • Power Clean spray technology comes in handy while cleaning out difficult to remove stains
  • The faucet can be installed on either a 1-hole or a 3-hole sink
  • The water flow can be toggled between a spray or a shower mode
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Cons

  • It is relatively expensive
  • The hose on some units ends up leaking

Final Verdict

The Moen Arbor is a good faucet. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with it. It has great build quality, sleek design, and awesome features like Power Clean technology, Retractable nature of the spout, and the ability to toggle between different water modes.

The leaks mentioned-above have a relatively easy fix. You can open up the handle and apply silicone grease. Silicon grease solves the problem for the most part.

If you can afford it and you can live with the fact that some hoses do leak over time, then there is no reason why you shouldn’t get it.

Delta Faucet Essa 9113T-AR-DST

The Delta Faucet Essa is one of Delta Faucet’s less expensive models. Even though it is not as expensive as some other Delta Faucet’s models, it still packs in almost all the features of more expensive models.

As a result, anyone who wanted to get a Delta Faucet product but was discouraged by the price, this is a potentially amazing deal. So, without further ado let’s see how good this product really is.

Manufacturing

First and foremost, no faucet should have mediocre build quality because a faucet is one of the most used things in a kitchen. You use it several times a day and will use it for years to come. Fortunately, the Essa is sturdy, at least from the outside.

As with all Delta Faucet products, the Essa is made of metal. You can choose from several finishes but I like the Arctic Stainless Steel best. It hides smudges and fingerprints really well. As a result, the faucet keeps looking clean.

Coming back to the build quality, we see where Delta Faucet cut some corners to achieve a lower price point. Although the exterior is metal, the interior is filled with plastic parts. While plastic alone is no reason to dismiss a product, plastic is more prone to breaking than metal. This is the reason why many people don’t like the use of plastic faucets very much.

This minor annoyance aside, the Essa is surprisingly capable when it comes to performance. Features like a Magnetic Docking Spout which are the staples of Delta Faucet’s high-end lineup make an appearance here. It is quite a pleasant sight for people with shallow pockets.

In addition to the Magnetic docking, the Essa also supports Delta Faucet’s Touch2O technology. The crux of the technology is that you don’t need to pull the lever to activate the faucet. All you need to do is touch the spout and the water will start flowing. This is great for situations where your hands are messy and you don’t want to touch and dirty the lever.

But if you want to save some money, you can buy the Essa without Touch2O.

While we are on the subject of the water flow, there are two modes that you can toggle between.  With the push of a single button, you can choose between a spray mode for filling up containers or a shower mode for cleaning. The inclusion of mode selection provides flexibility and efficiency.

And if these features weren’t enough, the company’s excellent TempSense LEDs are also present here. If you don’t know about TempSense, it is a strip of LEDs at the base of the faucet that tells the temperature of the water. There are 3 indicators:

  • Blue when the temperature reaches 88F
  • Pink when the temperature reaches 95F
  • Red when the temperature is 110F

As you can probably tell to be able to look and tell how hot the water is, it is a pretty neat trick.

Similarly, other neat tricks include the fact that the Essa comes with everything inside the box including an optional deck plate to use if you have a 3-hole sink design and PEX supply lines to reduce the chances of a leak occurring.

Finally, closing this long list of specifications is Delta Faucet’s patented Diamond Seal Technology. Fancy name aside, the technology makes sure there aren’t any leaks and the faucet lasts longer than expected.

Oh, and if you were hoping for a lifetime warranty, there isn’t. Delta Faucet only provides a limited lifetime warranty.

Durability

With all the innards being plastic, the durability is questionable. I am not saying it won’t last years, it may but I won’t last more than you hope for. And Delta Faucet’s bad customer service doesn’t help either.

But there is a silver lining here:

The issues popping up regarding the breaking down of internal plastic parts are few and far between. So, if you want to get it, I would say take the leap. The other features more than make up for it.

Style

Essa has a good design. There is no debate about that. From the outside, it looks just as good as any other high-end faucet. From the lever to the way the docked spout looks everything is thoughtfully designed.

Moreover, the LED bar on the base adds just a hint of modern charm which, in my opinion, looks really cool.

Ease of Installation

One of the nicest things about the Essa is how easy it is to install.

First up, it comes with everything you need to install it inside the box. And you, no matter your sink is a 1-hole or a 3-hole, can still mount it.

Ease of Use

Right off the bat, I want to say this:

The Delta Faucet Essa is one of the easiest faucets to use.

Don’t get me wrong, the faucets with sensors for gesture-based operation are great. But they also have the tendency to falsely turn on by themselves. There is no such issue with the Essa because it doesn’t employ any sensors at all.

Instead, you need to touch the surface with your wrist or forearm for it to work. It makes operating the faucet so much easier.

Moreover, the inclusion of TempSense to tell the temperature of the water from afar is, quite frankly, incredible.

Pros

  • It is stylish and well made
  • MotionSense and TempSense are great features
  • Comes packed with everything inside the box
  • Two water flow modes, a spray mode and a shower mode
  • Diamond Seal Technology to protect against leaks
  • Reasonably priced

Cons

  • Some units end up leaking due to plastic parts breaking or coming loose
  • Mediocre customer service

Final Verdict

The Delta Faucet Essa is a great low-cost alternative to Delta Faucet’s other offerings. It packs all the high-end features at a lower cost and looks stylish while doing so.

Consequently, if you can overlook a few minor annoyances of this faucet, it can be a great purchase.

It comes with a limited lifetime warranty (up to 5 years from the date of purchase), which makes making fixtures or changes in the product easier than ever. Also, along with the classical look of a double-handled faucet, the Tunbridge Faucet comes in with a side sprayer, which is quite a nice and unique addition to it. This side sprayer is here to make things much easier for you, as it can help you by spraying water streams intermittently, which helps clear up messes created due to scrubbing and rinsing.

The product is indeed very versatile, and installing it is really easy, and mess-free too. It has been manufactured and designed in a way that it easily fits in the wall where it needs to be mounted. It requires 4 holes, with 8-inches configurations, and there it goes. It offers a flow rate of roughly 1.75 gallons of water per minute.

One more interesting aspect of the Tunbridge Faucet is that the valve stems which are present on the hold and cold streams are interchangeable, which makes replacing them quite easy. The spout reach is up to 9-inches, which is quite a fair amount of distance, and creates an amazing glow of water, right into the center of the kitchen sink, so you do not have to excessively drag or push items in your sink around. It also prevents backsplashes, by providing a minimum clearance space (of up to 2.5-inches).

A separate purchase, however, for the standard water supply lines, needs to be made, as they are not included in the packaging, and purchasing them is a necessary requirement too.

Style

The body and the designing of the Tunbridge kitchen faucet might seem to be an old school one, but it brings back all the memories of the past days, as now, rarely do we see a double-handled faucet. But, in its working and functionality, it is in no way old-fashioned at all. Created with stainless steel, the body stays free from rusts, or any dirt marks for a long, long time. The faucets give a classical, yet modern edge to the kitchen faucet and the sprayer on the side just adds to the beauty of the whole equipment, and together, gives a homely, comfortable feeling to the kitchen. Its tall stature gives the perfect stream of water, right where it is needed.

Durability

The stainless-steel body speaks for itself that it is not only tough and sturdy but is here to stay for a long time. Adding to that, the deck mounting of the faucet equipment into a 4-hold configuration garners sturdiness, and a strong hold, avoiding any loose connections in the whole product. The spout is rotatable to 360 degrees which is the best aspect, in order to avoid unnecessary splashes and messes in the kitchen. Also, the side sprayer comes in with a retractable hose, which makes cleaning up easier than never before.

Ease of Installation: The entire equipment of the Tunbridge kitchen faucet comes in with an easy, and quick installation setup. Ease of use

Maybe slightly older people will enjoy using this faucet a lot more than younger age group people, as it would remind them of their older days. The Tunbridge kitchen faucet is smart, and easy to use, creates fewer hurdles and messes for the user, and has a limited lifetime warranty of up to 5 years, so any faults or breakages can be catered to and looked after by the manufacturing company.

Pros

What is a good flow rate for a kitchen faucet?

The flow rate of a kitchen faucet is measured in GPM – Gallon per minute. On an average, kitchen faucets have a flow between 1.5 – 2.0 gallon per minute. In the odd case that tightening the ring does not solve the problem, the dripping might be caused either by a cartridge that is too worn out or the corrosion of the valve set of the faucet.
